The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region is setting its sights on winning between six and eight parliamentary seats in the 2028 general elections.
Regional Organiser Edmund Bombande says the party will target constituencies it has previously won while working to make inroads into other areas.
The NPP currently holds no parliamentary seat in the region, but Mr Bombande says the party believes it can rebuild its support through sustained grassroots engagement.
Speaking on A1 Radio monitored by BolgaFM, he identified Navrongo, Builsa, Zebilla, and Tempane among constituencies the party has won in previous elections and intends to target again.
He said the party would, however, work across all constituencies rather than limit its campaign to its traditional strongholds.
Mr Bombande initially expressed the ambition of winning all the parliamentary seats in the region but acknowledged that some constituencies would require more sustained work.
He consequently set a more immediate target of between six and eight seats.
“I am just thinking and praying that with hard work, at least we should be thinking about six or eight constituencies,” he said.
The Regional Organiser believes the party’s newly elected executives have the capacity to lead the rebuilding process.
He said the NPP has learnt lessons from its performance in the 2024 elections and must begin working early if it is to make significant gains in 2028.
He also urged party members, including defeated aspirants, to remain active and contribute to the party’s grassroots mobilisation.
According to him, the 2028 election is too important for the party to approach without a clear strategy.
