The NDC Constituency Secretary for Talensi, Augustine Mmi-oni Guure, says he will not be intimidated into silence after surviving what he describes as a potentially fatal road incident.
Mr Guure, who doubles as Assembly Member for the Sheaga Electoral Area and is aspiring to become the NDC Constituency Chairman, says the incident has rather strengthened his determination to continue advocating for development and accountability.
He said he considers his survival a second chance from God after his vehicle crashed and overturned while he was trying to escape another vehicle that had crossed his path.
Despite the severity of the crash, Mr Guure said he emerged without a cut.
“If you see the car, it is condemned… There’s no way one of his normal senses will look at it and say the person came out and never got hurt,” he said.
The incident sparked rumours about his whereabouts, with some people reportedly believing he had died.
Mr Guure said he initially decided not to make the matter public, but the volume of calls from concerned residents and relatives compelled him to confirm that he was alive.
He says he believes the incident may have been a warning from people who resent his willingness to speak the truth about development challenges and demand accountability.
But the NDC Constituency Secretary insists he will not back down.
“I will still be the same person. I’ll keep exposing the wrongs. I will keep talking hard, regardless of who you are,” he said.
Mr Guure said his role as an Assembly Member is to be the voice of residents, particularly young people and vulnerable groups who may not have the opportunity to demand answers from authorities.
He says his political ambition to lead the NDC constituency will not compromise that responsibility.
According to him, politics should be about ideas, development and accountability rather than personal attacks.
“Politics is all about ideas. Politics is all about development. Politics is all about accountability. It is not about persons,” he said.
Mr Guure says he remains committed to his political ambitions and development advocacy, despite what he considers attempts to intimidate him.
He believes his survival is a reminder that his work is not yet finished.
“I have a living God,” he said, adding that he intends to continue speaking for residents and championing development in the constituency.
