Residents of Azosidaana in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region are appealing for the establishment of a CHPS compound to address what they describe as difficulties accessing basic healthcare.
The residents say the absence of a health facility in the community forces them to travel long distances whenever they need medical attention, a situation they say poses particular challenges for women, children and pregnant women.
Women in the community have led calls for a CHPS compound, arguing that a health facility closer to home would make it easier to access antenatal care and other maternal health services.
They also want children in the community to have regular access to services such as weight monitoring and routine health checks without having to travel far.
The residents say the lack of a nearby facility could become particularly critical during emergencies, when delays in accessing healthcare could have serious consequences.
They are therefore calling on the Bongo District Assembly, the Ghana Health Service, government and development partners to consider their request and provide the necessary infrastructure and health personnel.
For the residents, a CHPS compound would not only bring healthcare closer but also help ensure that women and children receive timely and regular medical attention.
