Management of the Zuarungu Nursing and Midwifery Training College has dismissed social media claims that newly admitted students face a classroom shortage, calling the information false and misleading.
The response follows a TikTok video by Stephen Opoku Awudu, which claimed that a newly admitted student had been left stranded due to a lack of classrooms and suggested that about 300 new students were expected to report to the college.
Management says no first-year student has reported to the college yet, with fresh students scheduled to report on October 5, 2026.
It said the college will admit 246 students for the Bachelor of Science programme, including students across its three existing programmes.
Management has also rejected claims that the institution needs four additional lecture halls before academic activities can begin, insisting that the necessary arrangements are in place to ensure smooth teaching and learning.
It said the accommodation and classroom situation must also be viewed against the number of students who have completed their studies.
According to management, 458 final-year students have left the college this year, compared to the 246 new students being admitted.
On the ongoing renovation works, management explained that portions of the college are being renovated following a fire incident last year.
It said significant progress has been made in restoring parts of the affected female hostel through support from the Bolgatanga East Member of Parliament, Dr Dominic Ayine, and other stakeholders.
Management has assured parents, prospective students and other stakeholders that accommodation and lecture space will not hinder the commencement of academic activities when first-year students report.
It has urged the public to disregard unverified information and rely on official communication from the college.
