The Navrongo Central Constituency Women’s Organiser, Margaret Akagwire, has assured the party of her commitment and a sustained campaign to attract more women and youth into the party when she gets the nod to occupy the Upper East Regional Women’s Organizer position of the New Patriotic Party.
Madam Akagwire, after filing her nomination and going through a successful vetting, is very hopeful, saying, “I have been tested, and my works and experience are there to prove my commitment and capabilities.”
Speaking in an interview with bolgafmonline.com, Madam Akagwire recounted her long-standing commitment to the party right from 1992. According to her, she first served as the Polling Station Chairperson at Natugniah Primary A, for six months and later rose to the position of the Navrongo Constituency Women’s Organizer.
“I have dedicated many years of my life to the service of the NPP. I joined active politics at a very young age before I even started my own family. My passion and commitment got the delegates in the Navronggo Central to keep me their Constituency Women’s Organizer for two consecutive terms, and my works are there for all to see.”
Madam Akagwire also highlighted her role in campaigning for the late Kofi Adda and John Achuliwor with several other NPP parliamentary and presidential candidates, stressing that she has consistently remained loyal to the party in government and out of government.
She said her decision to contest for the Regional Women’s Organiser position is driven by her desire to empower women across the Upper East Region and increase their active participation in the party.
“We all know the role that women play in community mobilization, and for our party, women remain the backbone just as they are to every successful political party. I believe that empowering them with the right support and opportunities will strengthen the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.”
Madam Akagwire appealed to delegates to vote for a candidate with proven experience, dedication, and the ability to mobilize and unite women across the region. She urged delegates not to base their decision on age or financial influence, but rather on competence, hard work, and commitment to rebuilding the party.
“I am ready to work with every woman in the region to strengthen our structures and help the NPP return to power in 2028.” She said.
