Frafra gospel musician Madam Faustina Awine has issued a strong appeal to men to stop exploiting vulnerable women who seek financial or professional support, describing the practice as a growing social problem that destroys dreams and leaves lasting emotional scars.
Speaking on Bolga FM 102.7 MHz’s Work and Happiness Show on Friday, July 24, 2026, Madam Awine said some men prey on young women, particularly aspiring female musicians, by making financial assistance or career opportunities conditional on sexual favours.
She condemned the practice as inhumane and challenged men to reflect on how they would feel if their own relatives became victims.
“If that girl were your sister or your relative, how would you feel knowing that someone took advantage of her simply because she needed help?” she asked.
The gospel artiste said many women, driven by financial hardship or the desire to advance their careers, often approach individuals they believe can support them, only to face inappropriate demands instead of genuine assistance.
According to her, the situation has left many young women with difficult choices, forcing some to abandon opportunities after refusing sexual advances, while others endure emotional trauma.
She further alleged that some victims are deceived with promises of support that are never fulfilled, leaving them exploited without receiving the help they were promised.
“There are men who take advantage of these women and still fail to honour the promises they make. Some young women lose opportunities because they refuse such demands, while others suffer emotionally, and in some unfortunate cases, even lose their lives,” she said.
Madam Awine urged young women, especially those pursuing careers in the creative arts and other professions, to exercise caution when seeking support and to carefully assess the intentions of individuals offering assistance.
She advised them not to compromise their dignity or personal safety in pursuit of opportunities, stressing that success achieved through integrity is more valuable than opportunities obtained through exploitation.
The musician also called on society to foster an environment where women can pursue education, careers and creative talents without fear of harassment or abuse.
She emphasised that genuine mentorship and support should be offered with respect and without any expectation of inappropriate favours, urging men to use their positions and resources to empower women rather than exploit their vulnerabilities.
Her comments add to growing conversations on the need to address sexual exploitation and abuse of power in professional and creative spaces, where advocates continue to call for safer environments and greater accountability for perpetrators.
