The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, on Wednesday received a delegation of South Korean investors who have expressed strong interest in investing in the Upper East Region following the successful Upper East Economic Planning, Business and Exhibition Forum.
The meeting focused on identifying investment opportunities that will drive innovation, technology, and economic growth in the region. The South Korean delegation indicated that they are exploring opportunities in drone technology, artificial intelligence (AI), surveillance systems, smart agriculture, and drone knowledge transfer.
The investors also outlined plans to collaborate with the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) and Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) to facilitate technology transfer, strengthen research and innovation, and equip students and young professionals with practical skills in emerging technologies.
Donatus Akamugri Atanga welcomed the investors’ interest and reaffirmed the Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investment and development. He noted that such partnerships have the potential to create employment opportunities, improve agricultural productivity, and position the Upper East Region as a hub for technological innovation.
The proposed collaboration is expected to enhance skills development, promote entrepreneurship, and support the region’s long-term socio-economic transformation through the adoption of modern technologies.
