MyTurn Limited and Lesken Enterprise Limited have been announced as headline sponsors of the 5th Upper East Regional Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards, reinforcing private-sector support for journalism and development reporting in the region.

Kacstones Records and Paga Youth Movement have also come on board as main sponsors of the awards, which seek to recognise outstanding journalism and its contribution to development in the Upper East Region.

The sponsorship announcement was made at the official launch of the awards in Bolgatanga ahead of the ceremony scheduled for October 2, 2026.

Upper East Regional Chairman of the GJA, Albert Sore, expressed appreciation to the sponsors for their support, describing their partnership as an important demonstration of confidence in credible journalism.

“Supporting the awards demonstrates that an institution or business values credible journalism, transparency and the development of the region. The benefits are simply enormous.”

Mr Sore said sustained collaboration between the media and private sector was critical to strengthening independent journalism and motivating journalists to produce impactful, development-focused stories beyond daily headlines.

He said the awards provide an important platform to celebrate journalists whose work contributes to public accountability, good governance and improved livelihoods.

The headline sponsors, MyTurn Constructions Limited and Lesken Enterprise Limited, are among businesses supporting development initiatives in the Upper East Region.

Kacstones Records, a Ghanaian creative arts, talent development and event logistics brand based in Northern Ghana, and Paga Youth Movement, a youth advocacy organisation, are also supporting the awards as main sponsors.

The 2026 awards are being held under the theme: “Beyond the Headlines: The Media’s Role in Promoting WASH for Safe Motherhood and Quality Healthcare,” in alignment with WaterAid Ghana’s “Time to Deliver” campaign.

The ceremony is expected to bring together journalists, media managers, development partners, corporate institutions and other stakeholders to celebrate excellence in journalism and its impact on communities across the region.
