James Kumbeni, in partnership with Kingsley Akwasi Ampong, has donated blood pressure monitoring apparatus to eight CHPS compounds in the Talensi District to strengthen basic health monitoring and support frontline health workers.
The donation follows a cycling expedition undertaken by the duo from Ghana to Benin as part of efforts to promote climate action and health awareness.
The beneficiary facilities are Baare, Sakpare-Tengre, Yagzore, Tindongo, Belembisi, Biug, Gaare and Accra Site CHPS compounds.
According to Mr Kumbeni, the intervention is intended to make basic health monitoring more accessible to residents, particularly those who depend on CHPS facilities for primary healthcare.
He said the equipment would support health workers in their daily duties, especially in monitoring patients’ blood pressure and identifying potential health concerns early.
The donation also highlights the need for adequate equipment at the community level, where CHPS compounds serve as the first point of contact for healthcare for many residents.
Mr Kumbeni says the initiative will not end with the donation, announcing plans for a community health screening exercise in the coming months.
He says he intends to work with relevant stakeholders to make the planned screening exercise successful and extend its impact to more residents.
He has expressed appreciation to the Talensi District Health Directorate and health workers for their commitment to providing healthcare to communities across the district.
Strauss Legacy Consult has also been commended for supporting the project, with the organisers expressing hope for further collaborations on community-focused health interventions.
