A total of 56 aspirants have filed their nominations to contest various executive positions in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bongo Constituency of the Upper East Region.
The nominations cover key constituency positions, including Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Communication Officer, Constituency Organizer, Women’s Organizer, Youth Organizer, Treasurer, Zongo Caucus Coordinator and other executive positions.
The Chairmanship race has attracted three aspirants, while four candidates are contesting the Vice Chairman position and three are seeking to become Constituency Secretary.
The Deputy Secretary position has two contenders, James Akuribila Nyaaba and Iddrisu Asiim-Yamga Adongo.
Two aspirants, Edward Abesiwine Asekere and David Asanga Awine, have also filed for the Communication Officer position.
The contest for Deputy Communication Officer will be between Patrick Akuntubgo Anamoo and Daniiel Amaltinga Anaba.
Three aspirants; Benjamin Amidu Akurigo, Thomas Adongo Atongo and Emmanuel Awine Nsoh, are vying for Constituency Organizer, while Thomas Yussif Atinga and Daniel Nyaaba Awuure are contesting the Deputy Constituency Organizer position.
The Women’s Organizer race has two contenders: Hannah Talata Asanyuu-re and Esther Abugpoka Akabzaa.
Three candidates ; Angela Salima Atia, Hiqmatu Sulemanna and Doris Atampoka Lamisi Akolgo, have filed for Deputy Women’s Organizer.
The Youth Organizer position has attracted Cyprian Van Adombire and Alfred Nyaaba Akuresoh, with Richmond Nsopika Adongo and Abowine Anafo contesting Deputy Youth Organizer.
The Treasurer position is also competitive, with Charles Azure Apuusah, Nicholas Anaba and Margaret Apomolga filing nominations.
For Deputy Treasurer, the contenders are Stephen Akamorige Alazoe and Desmond Akantani Nyaaba.
The Zongo Caucus Coordinator position has attracted Musah Seidu and Peter Adugbire Asaah.
Several other aspirants have filed to contest positions including Other Youth Representative and the Eight Other Members category.
The filing of nominations has now set the stage for the NDC’s internal constituency-level elections in Bongo, with the aspirants expected to engage delegates ahead of the polls.
The contest will determine the next crop of constituency executives responsible for coordinating the party’s grassroots structures and organisational activities in Bongo.
