The Upper East Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Ayinbisa, has pledged to support whoever emerges victorious in the party’s upcoming regional executives elections , especially the communications race, despite expressing confidence in retaining the position.
Speaking on A1 Radio monitored by BolgaFM, Ayinbisa described his fellow contenders, Johnson Ayine and Dr. Samuel Akongo, as capable communicators who have served the party diligently.
“My brother, Johnson Ayine, is a very fine communicator. He’s been in this game for decades. Dr. Samuel Akongo has also been around for some time and communicates quite well. All of them are doing well in their own spheres,” he said.
Despite acknowledging the strengths of his opponents, Ayinbisa maintained that his extensive leadership experience gives him an edge in the contest.
He said the NPP must elect leaders who are prepared to sacrifice their time, resources and expertise to rebuild the party after its 2024 electoral defeat.
Referring to the 2024 Post-Election Committee chaired by Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, Ayinbisa said the report identified voter fatigue and disappointment with some government appointees among the factors that contributed to the party’s loss.
He urged delegates to consider those findings when voting.
“As we go into this election, let’s look for people who are dedicated to service, people who have the time, the experience and are ready to sacrifice even financial resources to make the party win power,” he said.
Ayinbisa noted that party executive positions are voluntary and demand commitment rather than personal gain.
Although optimistic about his chances, he said the outcome of the election would not affect his commitment to the party.
“I believe I’m the one who will win, but whoever wins, I’m not disturbed. I’m going to offer my support to whoever wins the elections,” he assured.
The NPP’s regional communications contest will see delegates choose among incumbent Peter Ayinbisa, Johnson Ayine and Dr. Samuel Akongo as the party positions itself for the 2028 general elections.
