The Upper East Regional Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salahu-Deen Musah, says the calibre and experience of the party’s newly elected executives have given him renewed confidence in the NPP’s prospects in the region.
He described the new leadership as a blend of professionals, academics, businesspeople and long-serving party activists who, he believes, have the capacity to strengthen the party’s organisation from the grassroots to the regional level.
According to him, professionals with qualifications including PhDs, law degrees and master’s degrees are now occupying executive positions at various levels of the party.
Mr Musah said the new executives also bring decades of experience in party organisation, giving them a strong understanding of the structures and challenges confronting the NPP.
He cited the Regional Chairman as an example, saying he had served as a polling station executive before becoming a constituency executive, Deputy Regional Secretary and later Regional Secretary, culminating in his election as Regional Chairman.
The Youth Organiser said similar experience could be found among other members of the regional executive team.
He pointed to the First Vice-Chairperson’s progression from Deputy Women’s Organiser to Regional Women’s Organiser and subsequently First Vice-Chairperson as evidence of the depth of experience within the new leadership.
Mr Musah said his own involvement in party organisation also dates back to his student days, when he served as a communications officer and later president before becoming a regional coordinator and subsequently Deputy National Coordinator.
He said this combination of professional competence and long-standing political experience provides the NPP with a stronger organisational base ahead of the 2028 elections.
Mr Musah expressed confidence that the new executives would use their experience to rebuild and strengthen the party at the polling station, electoral area, constituency and regional levels.
