A former Zebilla Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Patrick Ayaba, has assured the party’s delegates of selfless leadership that will empower more grassroots members to be bold and confident to campaign for the NPP come 2028.
Speaking in an interview with Bolga FM, Patrick Ayaba expressed gratitude to party members for their encouragement and support over the years, saying he was ready to provide the leadership needed to rebuild and strengthen the New Patriotic Party in all the constituencies in the Upper East Region.
According to him, his experience as a constituency chairman has exposed him to the numerous challenges faced by party executives at the grassroots level and he will work hard to address them under his tenure as Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party. He said these experiences have motivated him to seek the regional chairmanship so he can help address those concerns.
“I have successfully filed my nomination to contest for the position of Regional Chairman. During my time as Constituency Chairman, I witnessed many difficulties, and I do not want my colleagues to continue facing the same challenges.” He stated.
Hon. Ayaba, as widely known, identified disunity within the party as one of the major factors affecting the NPP’s progress in the Upper East Region. He noted that after internal elections, divisions often emerge among party members, but little effort is made to reconcile the various factions.
“Unity is the key to success. Whenever we are united, we achieve more. After every internal election, misunderstandings arise, but we fail to bring everyone together. Those divisions continue to grow and eventually affect the party’s performance.” He said.
The regional chairman hopeful pledged to promote reconciliation, inclusiveness, and teamwork if elected. He stressed that building a united front would be critical to the NPP’s efforts to recapture political power in the 2028 general elections.
He also called for a new style of leadership, arguing that the party, now in opposition, requires a regional chairman who is active on the ground, capable of mobilizing members, and committed to engaging young people.
“As an opposition party, we need a leader who will work tirelessly on the ground, unite our members, inspire the youth, and position the NPP for victory in 2028.” Hon. Ayaba said.
He indicated that he would, in the coming weeks, outline his full vision and plans for transforming the party in the Upper East Region.
