Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has authorised the release of GH¢370,000 from the share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to support repairs and maintenance on sections of roads across the constituency.
The intervention targets seven road sections identified as being in poor condition, with the MP saying the works are intended to ease transportation difficulties for residents, farmers and traders while efforts continue to secure major government-funded road projects.
The largest allocation of GH¢100,000 is for the Kanjarga–Fumbisi Road, while GH¢50,000 each has been allocated to the Doninga–Kanjarga, Doninga–Siniensi and Wiesi–Fumbisi roads.
The Uwasi–Fumbisi Road is to receive GH¢40,000, with another GH¢30,000 allocated for the Nyambisa Road and Bridge.
An earlier GH¢50,000 release for emergency works on sections of the Uwasi–Fumbisi and Zamsa–Fumbisi roads brings the total intervention to GH¢370,000.
The MP’s office says the funding follows concerns raised by residents, farmers, traders and transport operators over the deteriorating condition of the roads.
Dr Apaak said his decision followed a firsthand assessment of the difficulties residents face using the affected roads.
“Good roads are essential for development. They connect our people to opportunities, markets, schools, and healthcare facilities,” he said.
He acknowledged that major road projects fall under central government agencies but said available resources could be used to address immediate challenges while residents wait for larger interventions.
The MP also disclosed that he is engaging the Roads and Highways Ministry, Ghana Highway Authority, Department of Feeder Roads and other stakeholders to secure more comprehensive road rehabilitation for the constituency.
He said he is also pushing for faster progress on the Builsa South section of the Chuchuliga–Sandema–Wiaga–Fumbisi–Wiesi road.
According to his office, the Doninga–Sandema Road, which is also in poor condition, is expected to receive attention, with a contractor expected to move to site soon.
Dr Apaak is further urging the Roads and Highways Ministry to prioritise the rehabilitation of feeder roads across Builsa South.
The interventions, his office says, are expected to improve movement, reduce transportation difficulties and support access to markets and essential services.
