The Bolgatanga Municipal Director of Health Services, Alhaji Alhassan Lawal, has commended health professionals across healthcare facilities in the municipality for their professionalism and dedication to patient care, while urging the public to report any incident of misconduct by health workers.
Speaking on Bolga FM’s Tinmaalgo Sanga programme, Alhaji Alhassan Lawal stressed that treating patients with dignity, respect, and compassion is a fundamental responsibility of every healthcare professional. He noted that many health workers in the municipality continue to demonstrate professionalism and provide quality, patient-centered care.
The Municipal Director encouraged patients and their relatives not to remain silent whenever they encounter unprofessional behaviour from any health worker.
According to him, reporting such incidents will enable the Municipal Health Directorate to investigate complaints, take appropriate disciplinary or corrective action where necessary, and strengthen the quality of healthcare delivery.
Alhaji Alhassan Lawal urged residents to make use of the appropriate complaint channels whenever they witness or experience misconduct, stressing that constructive feedback will help improve accountability and enhance the quality of healthcare services in the municipality.
He also emphasized the importance of punctuality and discipline among health professionals. He explained that every health worker is expected to report to work on time and remain committed throughout official working hours.
He warned that delays in attending to patients can lead to avoidable complications and, in some cases, loss of lives.
The Municipal Director disclosed that the Bolgatanga Municipality has an estimated population of about 158,000 people. Healthcare services are delivered through 38 Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, six health centers, and the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.
He reaffirmed the Municipal Health Directorate’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery and called on both health workers and the public to work together to build a respectful, responsive, and patient-centered health system.
