The Upper East Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Abdul-Rahman Danladi, has pledged his office’s support for the development of Taekwondo in the region.
He made the commitment when the Upper East Regional Taekwondo Association (UERTA) paid a courtesy call on his office on Friday, September 25, 2026.
The visit provided the Association an opportunity to present medals won by the regional team at this year’s Korean Ambassadors Cup held in Accra.
The engagement also focused on strengthening collaboration between the NSA and the Association to promote Taekwondo and develop young talents in the region.
Mr Danladi, a former Taekwondo practitioner, expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and said the NSA was prepared to support a discipline that continues to produce medals for the Upper East Region.
He urged the Association to sustain its efforts to identify and nurture talents across the region.
Mr Danladi, however, appealed to the Association to communicate its programmes and competitions to the NSA well in advance.
He explained that early communication would enable the Authority to assess the needs of the Association and explore possible support, including resources for its activities.
He further called on government institutions, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders to invest in Taekwondo and help provide opportunities for young athletes.
According to him, sustained support for the sport will enable athletes from the region to continue excelling at national and international competitions and keep the flag of the Upper East Region flying high.
