The newly elected Youth Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Navrongo Central Constituency, Ayebakwo Numrod Wedam, has made a passionate call for unity among all party faithful as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
He believes that disunity within the party, as well as weak leadership, contributed largely to the NPP’s inability to win back the Navrongo Central Constituency seat in the 2024 Parliamentary Election.
Speaking in an interview after his election, Mr. Ayebakwo emphasized that party unity must be the foundation upon which the NPP rebuilds its strength in the constituency. “… as part of my message when I was campaigning to delegates, I told them it is not about the position, but unity first in the party. We need to return to power, and so we have to build unity and togetherness before anything else.” He said.
Mr. Ayebakwo is of the strong view that fostering cohesion within the party is not just a campaign slogan but a personal priority. “As for me, party unity is my priority,” he stressed, pledging to work closely with the party Chairman and all other executives to secure victory for the NPP come 2028.
Reflecting on the 2024 election results, Mr. Ayebakwo acknowledged the efforts of the previous executives, stating, “I will not say the old executives did not do well; for me, they did their best. However, I still attribute our loss in the 2024 election to weak leadership.”
He expressed confidence that the new crop of executives, including himself, will collaborate effectively to bring the party back to power.
Ayebakwo Numrod Wedam’s message is clear; the path to reclaiming the Navrongo Central seat lies in unity, hard work, and strong leadership.
