NDC activist and political communicator, Atiah David, popularly known as “The General,” has declared his intention to contest the Bolgatanga East Constituency Communication Officer position.
David says his decision follows months of consultations with party elders and stakeholders in the constituency and the Upper East Region.
He is banking on more than 12 years of experience within the NDC to lead the constituency’s communication machinery and strengthen the party’s messaging ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In his declaration on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, David said his ambition is to help the party simplify its policies and programmes and make them easier for ordinary voters and citizens to understand.
“After months of broad and intense consultation… I therefore declare my intention to go ahead with my long-time ambition to assist with the communication strategy and commanding the narrative through simplifying the policies of the party.”
David has held several positions within the NDC, including Constituency Youth Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Constituency Treasurer, Director of Party Orientation and Research, and a member of the constituency elections and communications teams.
He has also served on campaign teams and as a member of the regional communications team.
Beyond party politics, he has held student leadership positions, including SRC Financial Secretary at Gbewaa Training College in 2012 and SRC General Secretary at Valley View University in 2016.
If elected, Hon. David says he will prioritise the coordination and resourcing of communicators at the branch level.
He says strengthening the capacity of communicators will be critical to effectively communicating the NDC’s policies and programmes and countering misinformation ahead of the 2028 elections.
David says political communication must go beyond rhetoric and focus on presenting the party’s message in a manner that ordinary citizens can understand.
He has pledged to lead with honesty, transparency and accountability, while using his experience and organisational skills to build a more coordinated constituency communications team.
