The youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nabdam Constituency has formally submitted the nomination forms of incumbent Constituency Chairman Tetteh Zure, backing his bid for another term in office.
The youth and polling station executives had earlier mobilised to pick the nomination form for Mr. Zure, with more than 40 polling station youth organisers and executives publicly declaring their support for his re-election. The group represents more than 40 of the constituency’s 55 polling stations.
The nomination forms were submitted at the NDC constituency office on Thursday, September 24, 2026, as the party’s internal constituency elections move into the vetting stage.
The NDC’s official timetable puts the vetting of constituency aspirants between September 25 and 27, with the constituency elections scheduled for October 24 and 25.
The supporters describe Mr. Zure as a unifying figure whose leadership has helped strengthen the party’s grassroots organisation and improve its electoral performance in Nabdam.
Their claim comes against the backdrop of the NDC’s increasing presidential vote margin in the constituency over the last three general elections.
The party’s presidential margin over the New Patriotic Party increased from 2,890 votes in 2016 to 3,454 votes in 2020 and 5,434 votes in 2024, according to figures cited in the earlier endorsement of Mr. Zure. In 2024, the NDC presidential candidate John Mahama polled 11,393 votes in Nabdam against 5,959 for the NPP candidate, while the NDC also retained the parliamentary seat.
Zure pledges further gains
Speaking after the nomination forms were presented, Mr. Zure thanked the youth organisers and polling station executives for the confidence reposed in his leadership.
He pledged to build on the party’s previous electoral performance and work towards increasing the NDC’s vote share in the constituency if re-elected.
Mr. Zure is, however, not going into the contest unopposed, with another aspirant challenging him for the Constituency Chairman position.
The contest forms part of a wider internal race in Nabdam, where 48 aspirants have filed nominations for various constituency executive positions.
The positions include Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Organiser, Communication Officer, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Treasurer and other constituency-level offices.
The large number of aspirants signals a competitive internal reorganisation as the NDC prepares to elect a new set of constituency executives.
The party says its 2026 internal reorganisation is aimed at strengthening its structures from the grassroots upward.
With nominations now filed, attention turns to the vetting and appeals processes.
