Former Black Stars Management Committee member Moses Armah Parker has disclosed that each member of the team’s management received $50,000 as an appearance fee for Ghana’s participation at the FIFA World Cup, clarifying that the payment represented half of what was paid to players.
Speaking in an interview with Medeama FM monitored by BolgaFM, Mr. Parker said members of the management committee did not receive additional financial incentives such as per diems or winning bonuses throughout the tournament.
“Members of the Black Stars Management Committee received only half of the players’ appearance fee, meaning each of us received $50,000. There was no per diem or winning bonus for the committee,” he revealed.
His comments provide fresh insight into the remuneration structure for officials who accompanied the senior national team during the global football showpiece, a subject that has often generated public debate over the years.
Mr. Parker also disclosed that he used part of his appearance fee to support religious leaders who offered spiritual guidance to him and the national team during the competition.
According to him, pastors who prayed for the Black Stars before and during the tournament received offerings from the amount he was paid.
“The pastors who prayed for me and the Black Stars during the tournament were also given offerings from the same appearance fee I received,” he said.
Although he did not specify the World Cup edition or the amount given to the pastors, the former management committee member suggested the gesture was in appreciation of their spiritual support throughout the campaign.
His disclosure comes at a time when the remuneration of players and officials associated with the Black Stars continues to attract public interest, with calls for greater transparency in the management of state resources allocated to the senior national football team.
